  • Journée de la biotechnologie - Nouveaux vaccins à l’ère des pandémies

    La Cité cordially invites you to join them on March 12, 2015 starting at 8:30 a.m., at the amphitheater at La Cité (E Building, room E1070) to learn more about the latest strategies for the detection of emerging pathogens and the development, approval and use of preventive and therapeutic vaccines for humans and for veterinary uses.

    We live in an era where the risks of pandemics are intensified, as demonstrated by the recent Ebola crisis as well as many others. This is a public interest issue and a hot topic.

    The opening speaker will be Dr. Réjean Thomas. Over the course of his career, Dr. Thomas founded a clinic for patients suffering from HIV. He has looked after nearly 5,000 HIV-positive patients and 1,500 people infected with hepatitis. Poster presentations are also planned. Finally, professors and students from the Bachelor of Biotechnology program will present La Cité’s current research projects.

    Discovery is Canada's leading innovation-to-commercialization conference. Hosted by the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), Discovery brings together key players from industry, academia, government, the investment community as well as entrepreneurs and students to pursue collaboration opportunities. 

    Garnering over 2,600 attendees and more than 420 exhibitors in 2014, Discovery is a showcase of leading-edge technologies, best practices and research from sectors such as health, manufacturing, digital media and cleantech, including energy, environment and water.

    Renowned keynote speakers and panels ignite discussion, knowledge-sharing and new perspectives. Networking opportunities feature key influencers from government, academia, industry and leading sectors.

    Discovery facilitates the exchange of ideas and encourages new ways to collaborate and push the boundaries of research and innovation through to demonstration and development. Creating a strong innovation economy is key to Ontario's future.

    Discovery is hosted at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto.
