Who are we?

The Community Innovation Lab is a not for profit organization that equips entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs with opportunities to create entrepreneurial projects, experience immersive work placements, and transform communities by bring world changing ideas to life.

What is the Social Enterprise Accelerator?

The Social Enterprise Accelerator (SEA) at the Community Innovation Lab is a program that will support 25 early-stage social entrepreneurs (Ontario Social Impact Voucher recipients) with access to sector specific knowledge and resources to improve market entry.  The OSIV recipients will have access to a training voucher worth $3000 that will provide them with the resources they need to excel in their social enterprise pursuit. Moreover, participants will become more investment ready, develop robust models, broaden networks and increase opportunities for entrepreneurial skills development.

Each Social Enterprise participant will have access to:

  1. 40 hours of classroom training in business modelling, financial modelling and investor pitch preparation
  2. 20 hours of Group Coaching to refine their business and financial models
  3. 6 hours of monthly check-ins with the Social Entrepreneur in Residence; and an additional 6 hours of networking events with stakeholders
  4. An opportunity to Pitch in front of investors and showcase their products and services via a social innovation challenge and Demo Day 

What does the program timeline look like?

The SEA program will run from February 2017 to June 2017, and will consist of 5 modules. Each module will run from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm.

How to pitch for sales, funding, and impact measurement & evaluation, marketing and communication strategies for social enterprise

Module 4: Social Enterprise Tour

Networking and learning at various social enterprises in the GTA

May 2017

Module 5: Demo Day

Pitch Competition: Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their enterprises to the public and compete for seed funding from sponsors

June 2017

 

Group Coaching will take place once a month from 1-5 pm on the first Tuesday following each lab.

Note: One on One coaching will be provided on request.
