Energent Inc. is a real-time energy informatics company in Waterloo that has developed a technology that predicts and manages a user’s energy consumption.
The Energent tool kit gives clients meaningful, customized energy information for their facilities which allows them to make smart decisions in managing and reducing their energy use. Conservative estimates indicate the kit can save $150,000 on an annual energy bill of $2 million in a commercial or industrial setting.
Energent got its start when OCE called for proposals that would position Ontario as the global leader in renewable energy technologies. The company went on to receive OCE research and commercialization support and recently participated in OCE’s CCR Embedded Executive program.
Energent is currently working with OCE, Ontario Power Authority, the University of Waterloo, Milton Hydro and Hydro One to create a smart grid application that will allow residential energy users to control their energy usage and save money.
