Closure of OneEleven a Loss Felt Across the Ecosystem

April 23, 2020

The news of OneEleven’s closure is a blow felt across the entire innovation ecosystem.

As a founding partner of OneEleven, alongside OMERS ventures and Ryerson University, OCE feels this significant loss particularly deeply. Working in the very same downtown office building, we could not have been a closer witness to OneEleven’s important work and vital role in the broader tech landscape.

The gap left by this closure will not be easily filled and OCE is making every effort, working with our partners across the ecosystem, to ensure the companies that have flourished under OneEleven’s leadership continue to succeed. These companies showcase the very best of Ontario’s innovation community and it is the responsibility of all of us to join in supporting them during this difficult time.

While our ecosystem is strong, this difficult news shows that it is also vulnerable. Now more than ever we must come together to support our tech community and build the collaborations and multi-sector support needed to ensure our continued impact.

We commend Siri Agrell and the OneEleven team for their leadership and advocacy in building Ontario’s world-renowned reputation for high-quality startups. OneEleven can be very proud of the legacy they leave, to have always put their client-companies first and acted as a tireless advocate across the innovation sector. Their positive contribution has permanently shaped the future of Ontario’s tech ecosystem.

On behalf of the entire OCE team, thank you.
